Dermatitis Eczema is a type of skin disease that causes inflammation of the skin and can be very uncomfortable to cope with.  There are many different forms of dermatitis eczema such as seborrheic dermatitis and atopic dermatitis (eczema). The disease can occur to any age category of people but however is not contagious.

What causes Dermatitis Eczema?

  • It is said that an abnormal function of the immune system can play a role in causing the skin disease.

  • Certain chemical irritants can cause dermatitis eczema.  Examples of such chemical irritants include; soaps, cosmetics, perfumes, detergents, and sweat.

  • Environmental factors such as certain allergens can cause a dermatitis outbreak.  This includes changes in weather such as temperatures and humidity.

What are some symptoms of Dermatitis Eczema?

  • Dry red skin that itches or burns

  • Blisters

  • Oozing lesions

  • Scaly skin

  • Occurs on the face, neck, elbows, knees, ankles, arms, legs, and scalp

Symptoms of Dermatitis Eczema can vary between individuals and can occur in brief periods for a few hours or days and in other cases can occur for longer periods of time which is called chronic dermatitis.

Treatment for Dermatitis Eczema include that of similar treatment of Eczema and other types of Dermatitis.  The idea of using treatments for this type of disease is for relief and prevention of itching, inflammation, and to prevent progressing of symptoms.


Treatments for Dermatitis Eczema include:

  • Corticosteroid creams

  • Tacrolimus (Protopic)
  • Pimecrolimus (Elidel)

  • Antihistamines
